Crew

Eduard graduated from Odessa Institute of Marine Engineers in Ukraine, and was trained as a mechanical engineer, with specialty in diesel engines. He served in that capacity on oceangoing vessels (tankers and cargo ships) for a number of years. During his service as a merchant mariner, Eduard sailed across oceans, crossed the equator several times, and went ‘around the Horn’ on his way to India. Since retiring, he enjoyed taking care of the diesels on his own boats- both sail and power, and being on the water with his son, Alex, an experienced sailor. Alex cruised, raced, and delivered sail and powerboats, served as a deckhand, crossed a sea, and came up through the ranks from ordinary seaman to petty officer on a 110′ Brigantine. He holds a merchant mariner credential of Operator of Uninspected Passenger Vessels (more commonly known as “Captain’s License”) from the United States Coast Guard. Alex enjoys sharing his love of being on the water with the guests.

    Alex and Eduard were courteous and capable hosts, tailoring a Manhattan tour to fit the likings of our party of five. I certainly won’t forget the priceless views of the City and sights, like the Statue of Liberty. Coordination with Alex was extremely easy by both email and phone.

    As for the boat, MEA is a beautiful little red tug, with both intimate cabin and deck space with a little table. Despite her size, she kicks it up to 10 knots to race the Wall Street ferries. MEA makes for a unique experience unlike any other conventional powered boat on this site.

    The crew were absolutely amazing. I hired this great mini-tug for a photo project and the crew was extremely flexible with me on dates, were willing to depart for a shoot at 3AM, and were very skilled & responsive with regards to maneuvering the boat for my shots.

    Also, they provided complimentary snacks for my crew! So so lovely.

    The boat is so lovely, with ample room for lounging and working both inside and out. I could see that this boat would be incredible for a leisure trip, but its great that the crew could also cater to our professional needs.

    Full stars for the MEA crew & will certainly use them again.
