Relax and Enjoy the NYC Skyline aboard a modern spacious Hunter Marine Passage 450. Capt Mark grew up on the Hudson River and brings years of sailing experience. He is a teaching captain, thinking out loud always making all other captains feel very comfortable.

Captain Mark is an entertainer and avid musician and most New Yorkers have heard him performing around town or on the radio doing jingles.

He never quit his day job as an engineer CPA accountant legal document writer, code writer, and consultant in the daily newspaper industry. Everyone will be thoroughly entertained.

This includes sailing with fractional sail exposed on windy days to keep the ride nice and smooth and very stable.

The boat is based in Port Washington where boarding fees are only $ 9 per person on the Water Taxi which will bring you to the mooring field. We can also board at the City Island Lobster House in the Bronx if you dine there. Port Washington is a $ 9.75 short Long Island Rail Road ride from Penn Station in Manhattan. Right across the street from the North Town Dock is a Stop and Shop grocery market and liquor store allowing you to grab any supplies for your cruise. I supply a good 40 pounds of ice and all the 16.9 ounces of bottled water you require.

Sailing from Port Washington and/or City Island and especially Northport/Huntingto is much more relaxed with less boat traffic around us and better sailing to protected bays or Sand Point where the boat can easily be stopped for swimming if so desired.

Given the full Bimini and raised solar panels covering the entire after deck, everyone can relax in the shade.

Ice-filled coolers are available, and there is always a stock of 16.9-ounce bottles of water, Crystal Light ice tea mix, and whatever alcohol you want to bring onto the boat. There are Bluetooth speakers back and be driven by anyone’s smartphone playlist.

The boat is also often in Huntington an Northport Long Island.

Cruises can also be easily specially catered upon request.

The boat is a center cockpit sloop-rigged sailboat with an in-mast furling main and furling jib. Aft steps give easy access to the water. Aft hot and cold shower at steps.

The aft deck frequently accommodates 11 guests.
8 people seated and specific chairs.2 others sitting on towels on the back deck under the shade of the solar panels.

The large center cockpit can easily accommodate 8 guests.

There is plenty of space for everyone to spread out on the deck during a 4 hr or 8 hr sail.

Full galley with a microwave.

The boat is fast and it does its theoretical hull speed of 8.4 km with half tanks and flat seas with only 18 knots of wind.

Several cushioned chaise lounge seating.

The boat can be repositioned anywhere in the New York metro area from Port Washington including Huntington or Northport. Please remember it is a 3 hr ride down to East River at maximum current timing which might be 2 AM in the morning to accommodate an outing around Manhattan.

Chelsea Pier in Manhattan requires a flat $ 300 flat boarding fee. The least expensive place around Manhattan is the Liberty Landing Marina charging only a flat $ 150 to board the boat.

Chartering from this area includes sailing around the tip of Manhattan, seeing the New York City skyline, passing close by the Statue of Liberty, and teaching other sailors tips and tricks for big boat sail handling and maneuvering. This includes sailing with fractional sail exposed on windy days to keep the ride nice and smooth and very stable.

Location and Destination Guide

Usually this boat operates around Huntington, NY.

New York City looks great from the ground, but that view from the water is something else! Jump aboard a Sailo boat rental from the Big Apple and experience the thrill of the sea - and snap plenty of incredible pictures. Sailing in NYC is a must on your summer bucket list, whether you are visiting or a New Yorker.

It might not be the first thing you think of when finding things to do in New York City, but renting a boat for a full day or just a few hours is a truly memorable experience.
