Description
Sally, a 10-meter, was one of 14 nearly identical vessels commissioned by a group of gentlemen from the New York Yacht Club. Built and launched in 1927 at Abking-Rasmussen yard in northern Germany, she and her sister ships were brought by steamship to Nova Scotia where they were then sailed to the United States.
The significance of the “10-meter” demarcation pertains not to her 59’ length or her 80’ mast height, but rather to an involved formula created to force the yachts designers to conform to certain design criteria. Only 3 of the original hulls remain. CF Koehler rescued Sally and got her sailing again after a year of plank replacements, new teak decks, interior woodwork and a new engine.
Comfortable layout
Sally is a beautifully maintained varnished wooden yacht. There is ample room for sunbathing on deck or relaxing in the spacious cockpit. More experienced yachtsmen can option for a charter with racing crew and a full complement of racing sails and gear.
Amenities
Sally accommodates up to 6 guests with a captain and crew, who can enjoy unique appetizers and ice cold drinks. A variety of charter options are available including sunset sails to whale watching.

As a second generation boat builder, I designed and built my custom 28-ft cruiser for spending quality time on the water in addition to maintaining my 59' classic sailboat and 63' classic trawler.
As a USCG Master, I have skippered and offered charters on custom yachts for 25 years for thousands of miles locally and around the world. Being out on the water on a classic wooden boat is an inspirational experience allowing a disconnect from everyday life ashore and I want to share the same experience with you.
Location and Destination Guide
Usually this boat operates around San Diego, CA.
From sightseeing to whale watching, do more with a sailing charter in San Diego. There’s a good reason San Diego is called the finest city, so come find out why with a private boat rental from Sailo.
When it comes to Californian lifestyle, we think San Diego is the city that most encapsulates the Golden State ethos. Year round sunshine? Check. Beaches and surf culture? Check. Laid back but buzzing city? Check. And, of course, lots of opportunity to play on the water with your very own yacht charter!
