The poor rating comes down to the fact that much better communication is needed from the team managing this boat charter service.
We booked 80 days in advance given high season. I proactively called 6 days before to reconfirm departure details, only to be texted that this boat was now unavailable due to mechanical issues. Ok, understood - things happen, although I wondered when they would have told us.
Problem was the unempathetic messaging. The choices were: a) pay more money for a larger boat the day before, b) keep that day but get passed onto another company/charter, c) change our date to later that week, or d) be cancelled. We found “happy to cancel” language dismissive to our predicament. We took option b, but then with new company, the new boat costs were re-opened again (food, location, toys, length) until moment we left dock. For example, a free ski bob was offered by this team for the inconvenience, but it was not on board - and it was embarrassing to have to have that convo in front of my family.
I’m sharing all this in the hopes it can be learned from and if and when it does happen again…staff can be nicer and more present with guests in dealing with this unfortunate situation.
